Mountains and Ski Resorts

Serbia has a wide range of Mountains located all the way from its West to the East such as Mountains: Tara, Zlatibar, Golija, Kopaonik and Stara planina but of all those mountains Kopaonik is the largest one that extends from the northwest to the southeast for some 80 km and is 40 km wide in the middle. The highest section of Kopaonik mountain is the spacious plateau named Ravni Kopaonik around which rise Suvo Rudište and Pančićev Vrh (the highest peak at 2017 m).

While Zlatibor has mostly a continental mild climate, Kopaonik has a subalpine one but it is still rightfully known as the “Mountain of the Sun” mostly due to almost 200 sunny days during the year. Snow covers all Serbian Mountains from the end of November and it usually stays until May giving the average base of some 159 snow-days a year.

One can ski on all Serbian mountains but Kopaonik is well known as the largest ski resort within the country that has excellent runs which offer unlimited joy to all categories of skiers from beginners to highly skilled ones. It comprises of about 55 km of runs for alpine skiing and12 km of runs for cross country (Nordic) skiing. The Mountain is also very popular among young people for its entertainment and we at the local DMC Serbia standing ready to welcome you any time!
