River Cruises

The Danube is the second longest European river which connects the East and the West by its magnificent course that passes through Serbia and is navigable all through its whole rout of 588km. This is mostly why the local destination management center (local DMC Serbia) has been founded and dedicated to all River Cruise Companies as well as to all River Cruise Clients offering them a variety of local DMC services, experiences and cognitions.

Sailing along the Danube through Serbia one will be fascinated by the diversity of the scenery – the sunflower and wheat fields, the orchards, the vineyards, the bays, the islands, the sandbanks with lush vegetation, thick forests and great fishing spots. It also creates unique sceneries and reveals plenty of cultural sights and some of the most impressive ones are the Capitals of Novi Sad and Belgrade, as well as the medieval fortresses Smederevo and Golubac along with the Traian’s Tablet from the Roman period, but what will really take one’s breath away is the narrow passage through Djerdap Gorge, between the Carpathian and the Balkan mountains which is also known as the “iron Gate”.

Although the two international rivers, the Sava and the Danube flow through several European countries, they finally merge at the point where Belgrade was founded. The sight of the two rivers merging, the Sava joining the Danube, represents one the most attractive points below Belgrade fortress and both with the island of Veliko Ratno Ostrvo (The Great War Island) which represents a real natural oasis in the very heart of the modern city that like its river banks never sleeps…
